Beehive Music Participation Licence (BMPL)

The Beehive Music Collection exists to inspire hope, human development, collaboration and purposeful living through music.

The Beehive Music Participation Licence (BMPL) is intended to encourage individuals, communities and organisations to participate in the Voices of Beehive initiative while protecting the integrity of Beehive Songs, the intended meaning of each song, and the Beehive brand. The BMPL is designed to be simple and easy to understand, while providing clear guidance on the use of any song from the Beehive Music Collection.

Beehive reserves the right to issue additional permissions or separate commercial licences where appropriate. By using any song from the Beehive Music Collection, you agree to the terms of this licence.

For clarity, Beehive Songs refers to all songs released by Beehive as part of the Beehive Music Collection, including lyrics, musical compositions, instrumental versions, official recordings, associated materials and future Beehive songs released under this licence.

The purpose of the BMPL is to:

• encourage participation through music;
• protect the integrity of Beehive Songs;
• preserve the intended message of every song within the Beehive Music Collection;
• provide clear guidance on the usage, performance and submission of Beehive Songs; and
• support the growth of the Voices of Beehive initiative.

The BMPL applies to:

• all songs within the Beehive Music Collection;
• song lyrics;
• musical compositions;
• instrumental versions;
• official recordings; and
• future songs released under this licence.

Subject to this licence, participants may:

• create new musical arrangements;
• create instrumental versions;
• record performances; and
• submit performances to Voices of Beehive.

Participants are encouraged to express creativity through vocal performance, musical arrangement, instrumentation, and artistic interpretation.

However, the original lyrics of the songs within the Beehive Music Collection must not be altered, rewritten or adapted. The intended meaning, message and spirit of each song must be preserved.

In addition, participants are not allowed to download, copy, distribute or share the official recordings of Beehive Songs, or use them for commercial purposes without prior written permission from Beehive.

All intellectual property rights relating to:

• lyrics;
• musical compositions;
• official recordings;
• artwork and associated materials;
• branding; and
• Beehive Music Collection;

remain the property of Beehive unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Participation under the BMPL does not transfer ownership.

Participants retain ownership of:

• their own performance;
• their recording; and
• their musical arrangement.

However, ownership of the original Beehive Songs remain with Beehive.

Participants who submit performances for the Voices of Beehive initiative confirm that:

• they have the necessary rights to their recording;
• the performance complies with this licence; and
• all performers have given permission.

Submission does not guarantee publication. Beehive reserves the right to determine which submissions are featured.

Participation does not confer any endorsement, partnership, sponsorship or official representative status unless expressly confirmed in writing by Beehive.

Beehive may, at its sole discretion:

• feature selected performances on Beehive websites, applications or other digital platforms;
• promote selected performances through Beehive's official communication channels;
• feature the performance within Voices of Beehive;
• invite selected individuals or groups to participate in Beehive events or other activities;
• engage selected participants in future Beehive music initiatives;
• use selected performances in connection with the promotion of the Beehive Music Collection and the Voices of Beehive initiative; and
• use the performance for educational, community and promotional purposes.

By submitting their performance to Beehive, participants agree to the use of their performance in accordance with the above terms.

The Voices of Beehive is intended primarily to encourage educational, community and non-commercial participation.

Any commercial use of Beehive Music Collection, including commercial recordings, commercial distribution, advertising, promotional campaigns, merchandise, licensing, synchronisation, or other commercial exploitation, requires the prior written permission of Beehive.

Nothing in this BMPL grants any rights to exploit (commercially or otherwise) any song within the Beehive Music Collection.

Participants must not:

• alter the lyrics;
• misrepresent Beehive;
• misrepresent the intended meaning of Beehive Songs;
• use Beehive Songs in a misleading context to promote unlawful activities, discrimination, hatred or violence;
• use Beehive Songs to promote political parties, candidates or campaigns;
• use Beehive Songs for commercial gains or to promote commercial products or services;
• remove copyright notices; or
• falsely claim ownership.

Beehive reserves the right to determine the licensing conditions applicable to individual songs within the Beehive Music Collection. Certain songs may be subject to additional conditions or restrictions published by Beehive.

The Beehive Music Participation Licence (BMPL) may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the Beehive Music Collection, the Voices of Beehive initiative, applicable laws, or operational requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page together with the revised effective date.
